Indonesia, Java, Radiophare
Profile: Green, spices, honey, rum, dark chocolate, berry, lemon
This coffee comes from the Puntang area of Sunda in West Java, Indonesia, and is a blend of Typica, Line S, and Catimor varieties. It's produced exclusively under the shade of various woody tree species including pine, eucalyptus, erythrine, and avocado. The Klasik Beans cooperative, which was founded in 2008 by a group of producers in Puntang, prepares this coffee using the honey process. The cooperative works across multiple Indonesian islands including Bali, Java, Sunda, Flores, and Sulawesi, with a philosophy centered on quality, people, and respect for the environment. The plantations stretch between high altitude forests and rice fields across the Guntur, Halimu Tilu, and Puntang volcanoes. During harvest, coffee cherries are picked by hand and transported to one of the cooperative's three processing sites (Pacet, Ciwidey, or Garut). With more than 200 producers involved and an SCA score of 85.25, this coffee showcases the exceptional quality and balance achieved through the cooperative's careful cultivation and processing methods.
